Jonathan Van Ness (from The Queer Eye and the Straight Guy TV show!)

The Ultimate Self-Care Playbook: Discover & Nurture Your Centered Self

Jonathan is such as delightful spirit! One of his lessons includes decoupaging a cover for his self-care journal in Video 3: Preparing Your Planner because “It just creates the craving for me to want to come back to my planner every day and say, ‘Good morning! What’s happening?’” This class includes a 6-page “Ultimate Self-Care Playbook” workbook.

Chidera Eggerue

Revolutionary Self-Care: Embrace, Nurture, and Grow Your Authentic Self

I love Chidera’s powerful perspective and wisdom about self-care. She covers such topics as your authentic voice, unlearning the bad stuff, and the doubt of the people around you.

Eugena Washington

I’ve watched Eugena’s class over six times! She has wonderful exercises such as a Let It Go Letter, An Account of Personal Brilliance, and Drawing a Map of Miracles.

The most important self-work you can do is to reflect on your life, what you want, what you don't want and who you want to show up. Muchelle explains life-designing exercises such as Create Your Anti-Vision, Performing an 80/20 Analysis of Your Life, and Planning Your Perfect Day. Her class includes downloadable worksheets for you to fill in.

Tips to Make the Most of Your Free Month

  • If time is scarce, click under the bottom left-hand corner of a Skillshare video and choose 2x to watch your classes at TWICE THE SPEED. I also watch classes when I’m walking on the treadmill or unloading the dishwasher.  Sometimes I’ll play marketing or productivity classes in the background as if I’m listening to a podcast. Then, later, when I’m ready to make art, I rewatch the specific lessons that I want to follow along with.

  • DOWNLOAD THE SKILLSHARE APP to your phone. To watch classes at 2x, click on the three dots in the upper right-hand corner of the video screen to change the PLAY SPEED.

  •  When you’re in Skillshare, search for a topic that YOU WANT TO LEARN ABOUT such as abstract painting, photography, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Canva, social media, marketing, Procreate, animation, writing, freelance, urban sketching, cute, art licensing, productivity, sewing, comics, fiction, editing, baking…

  •  Whenever I want to learn something, the SKILLSHARE SEARCH BOX is my new search engine instead of Google. Skillshare is the Netflix of online learning. Skillshare has changed my life and I’ve watched over 120 ours in ten months.

More Tips for Your Free Skillshare Month

  • Click the Browse drop down menu (to the left of the Search bar) and CHOOSE A CATEGORY to learn SKILLSHARE’S RECOMMENDATIONS. Category examples include Creative Writing, Film & Video, Fine Art, Graphic Design, Illustration, Photography, Web Development, Freelance & Entrepreneurship, Marketing, and Productivity.

  • You can BOOKMARK Skillshare classes within the Skillshare website. When you are viewing a class’s thumbnail Cover Image (such as in a Skillshare search result page), click on the bookmark icon in the bottom right corner under the thumbnail.
  • You can also create separate bookmark LISTS such as watercolor list or social media list or any name you choose.

  • I copy and paste a handful of Skillshare class URLs into an EMAIL to myself. This way, when it’s time to jump on the treadmill, I just open my recent email and click on the first Skillshare class URL. As a result, I don’t spend time scrolling through a long list and trying to decide which Skillshare class to watch.
